Dry Eye

Dry eye disease is one of the most common conditions in eye care and one of the most under-treated. If you have been living with uncomfortable eyes and the standard treatments have not helped, this page is for you.

Your dry eyes are not just dry eyes

Your dry eyes are not just dry eyes

Dry eye is frequently dismissed as minor. For many patients it is not minor at all. It affects reading, screen time, driving, sleep, and daily comfort in ways that are difficult to explain to people who do not experience it.

Severe or persistent symptoms require a targeted approach, specific diagnostic tools, and a range of different treatments.

The specialised dry eye clinic

The specialised dry eye clinic

Dr Sophie Buller runs a specialised dry eye clinic at The Eye Surgery for patients with more severe disease — those for whom standard approaches have not been adequate.

Sophie holds 3 degrees: a degree in Neuroscience from the University of Sheffield, UK, a medical degree with Distinction from the University of Sheffield, and a masters degree in Primary Care Ophthalmology with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh. She has worked in eye clinics for over ten years. The dry eye clinic is her particular focus.

The clinic uses advanced diagnostic testing to understand what is driving your dry eye — which matters, because different causes require different treatments. We offer a range of advanced treatment, including prescription only medications.

If the drops aren't working, a different approach may be needed

Dry eye disease that does not respond to standard treatment is not necessarily untreatable. It may simply need a different approach. The clinic exists for patients who have reached that point — or who want to understand whether they have.
